Articulata dels terratinents de Castellots 1662. Estudi del llenguatge jurídico-administratiu

Resum

Following a short introduction, where the characteristics of the document under study and the methodology adopted for it are presented, the author divides her paper in eight sections, each corresponding to the grammatical or semantic classification of the terms discussed. The «Articulata dels Terratinents de Castellots 1662», a legal document written in Catalan and abounding in juridical and administrative terminology, consists of 43 articles all prefaced by a short introduction. The present study is based on an analysis of each word, idiom or phrase that is related to that specialized terminology. Different dictionaries were consulted when trying to trace the meaning and the usage of each term. Lastly, the terms are classified in separate categories: idioms, formulae, phrases, verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, and phrases in Latin. In each section, the author includes the terms being studied, the definitions she found for each one of them, specifying their source, and the exact place in the document where each expression was found. The cases where the exact meaning of a word, idiom, or phrase could not be found are indicated with a question mark, next to the interpretation advanced by the author. As far as the phrases in Latin are concerned, they are left untranslated, and are only listed, specifying to what article in the document they belong.
