Nous aprenents xinesos adults de català a Catalunya: motivació, actitud i identitat en estudiants xinesos de postgrau

En aquest article estudiem la motivació per aprendre català, les actituds cap a la situació lingüística catalana i la identitat de vint-i-cinc estudiants xinesos de postgrau a Catalunya, que aprenen el català com a llengua addicional, en un context acadèmic en què no estan obligats a aprendre’l. Per dur a terme l’estudi s’han recollit dades d’aquests estudiants a partir de qüestionaris i entrevistes en profunditat. Els resultats il·lustren que els estudiants xinesos de postgrau a Catalunya aprenen català per acabar els seus estudis, comunicar-se fluidament amb les persones que consideren importants i tenir una vida més fàcil a Catalunya o la Xina, la qual cosa implica millorar la seva entrada al mercat laboral i accedir, en alguns casos, a altres llengües romàniques properes al català a través dels coneixements que en tenen. En general tenen actituds positives cap a la llengua catalana, que creuen que cal protegir i revitalitzar sense deixar de banda, però, el castellà. Pel que fa a la identitat, tot i que hi ha algun cas en què un estudiant adopta una identitat catalana, la majoria dels participants mantenen, com a única, la identitat xinesa.
